Neuromuscular Massage Therapy (NMT) is a specialized form of manual therapy that focuses on balancing the central nervous system with the structure of the musculoskeletal system. It utilizes soft tissue manipulation, active stretching and home care to eliminate the causes of most acute and chronic pain syndromes.

How Does NMT work?

In a healthy individual, nerves transmit impulses to the body very slowly. In people that have sustained injury, trauma, stress or postural distortions, the nerves will often speed up their transmission, disrupting your body’s natural equilibrium and making it vulnerable to pain and dysfunction.

NMT works to stabilize your body’s level of neurological activity to maintain normal function, reduce or remove pain and promote overall health. It also locates and releases spasms and contractions in tissues, thereby aiding the healing process. NMT also assists in venous and lymphatic flow, restores postural alignment, and imparts greater flexibility, causing the body to come back into structural balance.

Who Can Benefit From NMT?

Neuromuscular Therapy is used to release spasms and contractions in tissues, healing injured tissues, assisting in venous and lymphatic flow, restoring postural alignment, and imparting more flexibility.

People suffering from neck and back pain, headaches (including migraines), lower back pain, hip and shoulder pain, numbness and tingling in the arms or legs, and the soft tissue aspects of fibromyalgia syndrome are all great candidates for NMT.

Main Conditions Treated By NMT:

chronic pain
sciatica
carpal tunnel syndrome
temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ) and migraines
fibromyalgia
poor posture
trauma
